American Solar Electric is an Arizona-based design-build firm specializing in Photovoltaic (Solar-Electric) Power Systems for commercial, industrial and residential applications. Our approach brings continuity to your solar-electric project and includes system design, procurement, installation, interconnection and commissioning.

Our company is responsible for the installation of more than 5,000,000 watts of photovoltaic power in Arizona. We offer complete customer support and guarantee that systems installed by American Solar Electric operate and perform to your expectations.

American Solar Electric was established in January of 2001 by Will Herndon and Sean Seitz, both degreed engineers with over 20 years of combined experience in the design, construction and service of PV power systems. The company is licensed, bonded, and insured for both commercial and residential electrical and roof contracting in the State of Arizona (ROC license #168657 [K-11] and #236520 [K-42]).

AMERICAN SOLAR ELECTRIC LEADERSHIP:

Sean M. Seitz - President and Co-Owner of American Solar Electric, Inc. Mr. Seitz has been in the photovoltaic industry for ten years and started American Solar Electric with his business partner, Will Herndon, in January of 2001. Prior to starting American Solar Electric, Mr. Seitz was V.P. of Sales and Engineering at ETA Engineering, in Tempe, AZ. He holds a BSME from Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina and was employed as a design engineer with Square D prior to his venture into the field of photovoltaics.

Mr. Seitz is currently President of the Arizona Solar Energy Industries Association and is a founding member of the Arizona State University Renewable Energy Task Force. He was a participant in the Arizona Corporation Commission’s Standards Working Group and Cost Evaluation Working Group for the Environmental Portfolio Standard and continues to participate in local and federal policy development efforts. He has also provided assistance to State & Municipal leaders in their efforts to support the growth and implementation of solar technologies in Arizona.

William T. Herndon, Jr. - Vice-President and Co-owner of American Solar Electric, Inc. Mr. Herndon has been in the photovoltaic industry for fourteen years and started American Solar Electric with his business partner, Sean Seitz, in January of 2001. Prior to starting American Solar Electric, Mr. Herndon was a Systems Engineer at Kyocera Solar, in Scottsdale, AZ. He holds a BSME from University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.

Matthew C. Shannon - Vice President of Sales & Marketing for American Solar Electric, Inc. Mr. Shannon has been in the photovoltaic industry and with American Solar Electric in various capacities since January of 2001. Mr. Shannon has an 11 year background in Information Technology consulting, having managed and participated in successful projects for clients such as Intel Corporation, American Express, Salt River Project (SRP), Cigna HealthCare and the State of Arizona, Arkansas, Hawaii and Washington Medicaid Agencies. He holds a BA from Denison University in Granville, Ohio and an MBA from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Mark Skidmore - Vice President and Manager of Engineering and Customer Support for American Solar Electric, Inc. An ASU educated Mechanical Engineer, and NABCEP Certified Solar PV Installer, Mark joined American Solar Electric in late 2003 as a solar installer. He has managed every phase of solar electric projects from technical support for initial sales through conceptual and detailed design as well as permitting, scheduling, installation, and final commissioning. Mark currently manages residential, commercial, and utility scale projects from concept to completion, heads in house fabrication efforts, and offers customers technical support.
